Chelsea eye surprise move for six-time Premier League winner Laporte

Chelsea are reportedly exploring a move for ex-Man City defender Aymeric Laporte, per Spanish sources. The 31-year-old, currently with Al Nassr, has just one year left on his contract and is attracting interest from multiple clubs including Man United, Napoli, and Galatasaray.

Laporte joined the Saudi Pro League in 2023 but could now return to Europe. Chelsea are in the market for a centre-back after missing out on Dean Huijsen, who joined Real Madrid. The Blues have also been linked to Marc Guehi and Jarrad Branthwaite, with several current defenders — including Chalobah and Disasi — facing uncertain futures.

Chelsea have already secured the signing of Liam Delap and remain active in the market. Alongside a new centre-back, they are also targeting a right-footed winger and possibly another striker.

Nico Rodriguez of El Chiringuito shared the update on Laporte, stating Chelsea are showing interest, though there’s currently no contact with Athletic Club.

Meanwhile, Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato is on Chelsea’s radar as a potential left-back alternative to Marc Cucurella. The versatile 19-year-old can also play centrally, but with a reported €55m valuation, Chelsea may need to act quickly — with Liverpool also said to be monitoring him.
