New £40m Striker Evanilson Set for Bournemouth Debut in Clash Against Newcastle United

AFC Bournemouth are set to unveil their new record signing, Evanilson, in Sunday’s Premier League match against Newcastle United at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has confirmed that the Brazilian striker, who joined from Porto for a club-record fee of £40 million, will be involved in the match against The Magpies. Evanilson, 24, arrives with an impressive record, having scored 25 goals in 42 games for the Portuguese club last season and earning caps for Brazil at the international level.

Although Evanilson missed Bournemouth’s Premier League opening-day draw with Nottingham Forest, having only recently completed his move, he has since undergone a full week of training and is expected to make his debut against Newcastle.

“Evanilson trained well and he will definitely be involved in the game,” Iraola confirmed. “I expect him to start strongly if given the chance to play. It’s always challenging for a new player, especially with language barriers, but he has adapted well in training.”

Newcastle United began their season with a 1-0 victory over Southampton at St James’ Park, but no new summer signings featured in their starting lineup. Former Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly made his debut off the bench for Newcastle and could play a role again on Sunday.

However, Newcastle will be without Fabian Schar, who is suspended following an unsuccessful appeal against his red card in the Southampton match. Additionally, former Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is expected to miss the game due to a back injury, and Lewis Miley, Sven Botman, and Jamaal Lascelles are also sidelined, while Sandro Tonali serves the final game of his 10-month ban.

Bournemouth will be missing Enes Unal, Tyler Adams, and David Brooks due to injuries, with Iraola providing an update: “The three are progressing well but are not yet close to training with the group. They are still working individually.”
