Arsenal could be set to see transfers away from the club before making any summer signings as a busy few months await Edu and Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.
The transfer window is officially open, and it’s set to be a busy summer for Arsenal as they look to overtake Manchester City in the Premier League once again. The club will have an eye on strengthening their squad, possibly landing a new forward and pondering reinforcements on the wing. They will undoubtedly field interest in some of their own stars, with established professionals and prospects alike attracting suitors for permanent transfers and loan deals.
Edu and Mikel Arteta could be left with difficult decisions as offers arrive for the likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Emile Smith Rowe. Here’s a look at some of the latest news from the Emirates:
Aaron Ramsdale Transfer Stance
Talk of a transfer for the Arsenal goalkeeper has been firmly on the agenda this summer after he lost his place to David Raya during the 2023/24 season. Despite this, Ramsdale made the cut for England’s Euro 2024 squad in Germany.
“No footballer wants to not play,” Ramsdale told ahead of England’s opening match versus Serbia. “I’ve had a tough year personally not playing and I never want to do that again.”
International football appears to have provided him some relief after a challenging period. “I’ve got the greatest honour, the greatest badge on my chest. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if I play a minute or no minutes [and England win the Euros], it will be the pinnacle for me, the best day ever,” he said. “For the time being, I’m probably one of the happiest 26, 27 men in England, and hopefully, we can make not just us but however many millions at home the happiest as well.”
Arsenal Name Price for Emile Smith Rowe
Another Gunners star who could be on the way out this summer is Emile Smith Rowe. The midfielder made just 19 appearances last term and spent a significant amount of time on the substitutes’ bench at the Emirates.
Smith Rowe’s contract runs until 2026, but Arsenal are reportedly ready to cash in. Fulham have already registered their interest in the 23-year-old.
Edu and the Arsenal management have placed a £30 million price tag on their academy product, who has played 115 times for the north Londoners.4o
