Christian Eriksen is likely to leave Manchester United this summer, with just one year remaining on his contract. The international break has sparked questions about his future, but the Danish midfielder has made his stance clear.
Despite making only 12 Premier League starts last season and missing 10 matches due to a knee injury, Eriksen’s influence at United has waned. Consequently, the club is open to bids for his transfer this summer.
While the Saudi Pro League has attracted numerous Premier League players with lucrative offers, Eriksen has firmly ruled out such a move. The Danish international emphasized that he is not interested in transferring to Saudi Arabia, unlike some of his peers who have been enticed by substantial financial incentives.
Eriksen Says ‘No’ to Saudi Pro League Switch
“I have never received an offer [from Saudi Arabia], and I have made sure that it has never been approached,” Eriksen told Danish outlet Bold. “If my agent has said something, I’ve always said that I don’t even want to know what it is because it’s not something that interests me.”
When asked if he could see himself moving to Saudi Arabia in the future, Eriksen responded: “No. I can see that it can be difficult to say no, and we have also talked about that before – also for the club. I understand that it can be really difficult to say no if you see how much money is involved, but I just try to avoid it completely so that I don’t get to know how much it could be. I’m not going there.”
Eriksen’s refusal to entertain offers from Saudi Arabia is commendable. Although he could secure a substantial financial gain by making the switch, he is already well-off and appears more interested in other career opportunities, potentially ending his career in Denmark.
