Having been one of the best midfielders in the world for several years, N’Golo Kante has endured a stop-start career since 2018. Injuries and managerial changes at club level has meant that his previously assured position on the team as a chief ball winner was no longer available, leaving Kante filling in various rules not 100% suited to the style of player that he is.
With that in mind, it’s been clear that Chelsea would look to cash-in. Injuries, age, and a massive contract alongside a playing position that isn’t presently available means that Chelsea could look to sell off their star asset. With several assets in France, Spain, and Italy, it appears that Chelsea will have little issue in finding a buyer for a player of such reputation.
With Chelsea ready to make the move and to cash in on Kante, it could see the Blues find the funds to complete the signing of either Jadon Sancho or Kai Havertz. Both are seen as the ideal player to take Chelsea to the next level in attack, and the Blues will push heavily to make the Kante funds bring in a new kind of player.
Given his unique qualities, finding a replacement for Kante directly might prove troublesome. However, with his lack of a true fit in the current Chelsea squad, that might not be the issue that fans would have expected. For now, though, a Blues exit appears as likely as ever before.
