Italian eyes on Mauricio Pochettino

When Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino walked into Tottenham Hotspur, it was seen as a gamble. The former PSG and Espanyol man had done a good job at Southampton, but was it enough to turn Spurs around and make them compete?

It turns out the answer was an empathic yes, with the Pochettino era being arguably the best Spurs era of the last 40 to 50 years. However, an exit came after both squad and staff grew exasperated with one another and the clubs ambition seemed to differ from the managers. Now, it looks like either Internazionale or Juventus will make a move to employ the former defender.

Having taken time out of the game to recover from his sacking, Pochettino is coveted by both Italian giants. He is heavily linked with Inter, who are expected to make a decision on whether to continue with Antonio Conte, but also Juventus who are believed to be unhappy with Maurizio Sarri.

This could see the Argentine international picking from, at the moment, the two most exciting jobs in Italy. With the two best squads and budgets in the country to play with, we could see both clubs make a move for one of the most coveted managers in the world. Having made a huge impact at both domestic and European level with Spurs, we could see Pochettino rock up in Italy with the same brief provided.

Expect at least one major coaching change in Italy come the seasons end.
